RPD’s Fred Booth honored upon retirementRidgecrest Police Department Code Enforcement Officer Fred Booth (center), flanked by (from left) Mayor Peggy Breeden, Councilmember Scott Hayman, Mayor Pro Tem Lindsey Stephens and Chief Jed McLaughlin, is honored by the council upon his retirement after five years with RPD. The Navy veteran previously worked for the Naval Criminal Investigative Service for 29 years, 18 of them for the Ridgecrest office. “Many times Fred wasn’t the most popular guy,” said Chief Jed McLaughlin. “But he did that job with pride because he cares about this community.” Booth said that during his career, his time with RPD was the “most enjoyable” and thanked the men and women of RPD for all their support. — Photo by Laura Austin
