To the Editor: Kiwanis seek support for Child Spree

The Kiwanis Club of Ridgecrest is gearing up for this year’s Child Spree program. This program provides local school-aged children with new back-to-school clothes so that they can enter school feeling positive about their appearance.

The assistance we receive from the community is a critical link in having a successful Child Spree, so we are asking that you consider providing a donation for this amazing opportunity. We are grateful for any amount you are willing to contribute; however, if you would like to sponsor a child, a donation in the amount of $80 would cover the cost of one child receiving back-to-school clothes. Please mail your donations to Kiwanis Club of Ridgecrest, P.O. Box 42.

With the assistance of the community, Kiwanis provided an opportunity for 86 children in need, to receive new back-to-school clothes last year. That was a record year, and we would like to break that record this year with your assistance. This event brings much happiness to the participants and a confident, enthused start to a new school year. We are truly grateful for your participation in this worthy project.

Also, if you or someone you know is interested in volunteering to shop with a child on the date of the event, tentatively set for Aug. 3, please contact me at kandi. smith@clinicasierravista.org or 760-793-6001.

Kandi Smith, Kiwanis Club of Ridgecrest president-elect
