Leslie Earl Caffee

Leslie Earl Caffee, 75, died on March 20, 2019, at his home in Eagle, Idaho. His graveside memorial service will be held on June 15 at 10 a.m. at Desert Memorial Park in Ridgecrest.

Les was born on Nov. 3, 1943, in Lone Pine to Eunice and Creighton Caffee.

He earned his bachelor of arts from University of California, Bakersfield, and retired from China Lake after a successful career as a project manager. He served in the U.S. Army from May 29, 1962, until May 28, 1965, including a one-year tour in Korea.

In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, shooting, riding horses and flying. Because of his love of animals and the outdoors, his grandchildren affectionately called him “Grampa Cowboy.”

He is survived by his wife, Oxana Caffee of Eagle, Idaho; his brother Terry (Lorene) Caffee of Inyokern; his sister Barbara (Ed) Lasky of Eagle, Idaho; his three sons Vincent and Jennifer Caffee of San Luis Obispo, Clinton Caffee of Beaverton, Ore., and Brian snf Kelly Caffee of Colorado Springs, Colo.; his grandchildren Isabel, Julianna and Micah Caffee, Darian, Keely and Ash Caffee, and Joshua, Jason, Lauren and Katelyn Caffee; as well as one niece and three nephews.

Les also volunteered much of his time to the local women’s shelter. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the High Desert Women’s Center, 134 S. China Lake Blvd., Ridgecrest, CA 93555; or St. Luke’s Hospice, 325 W. Idaho St., Eagle, ID 83702.
