Jay F. Crawford

Jay F. CrawfordJay Franklin Crawford, born Aug. 18, 1947, passed away April 21, 2019, at the age of 71.

Jay met his wife Nancy during college in Sacramento. They married in 1969 and moved to Corona. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Ridgecrest ,where Jay worked as an engineer at the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division, China Lake.

Jay earned his master’s of science in electrical engineering at USC and worked on many projects including CHIRP, A-6 and eventually many leadership positions for NAWCWD. His teammates enjoyed working with him and appreciated his creativity and consideration for their well being.

After retirement, Jay was very active as a volunteer with the Aguabonita Flyfishers Club and could often be found fishing or working on wildlife conservation projects. He loved spending time with his family and always went out of his way to help friends. He was loved by all as a kind and funny man and will be greatly missed.

Jay is survived by his wife of 50 years, Nancy Rusk Crawford; daughters, Constance D. Crawford and Amanda Crawford McGowan and husband Richard; granddaughter, Savannah May McGowan; and brother, David A. Crawford.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, May 11, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Ridgecrest Elks Lodge. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in his name to the Aguabonita Flyfishers Club.
