Nutrition services to host ‘Spring into Wellness’The Child Nutrition Services department of Sierra Sands Unified School District will host a “Spring Into Wellness” event on Thursday, May 9, at 2:30 p.m. at Murray Middle School.

Parents, students and staff across the district are invited to sample menu items that are served in SSUSD cafeterias.

“Vendors will be giving away samples of the food our department already uses,” said Kristen Groves, supervisor of the nutrition program. She said that the foods include lean meats, whole grains and no hormones.

“We will also have a booth promoting local businesses that are supported when meals are purchased.”

Department staff will also be conducting a survey of foods sampled that are liked and disliked. The names of all participants will be entered into a drawing for a prize.
