Nolan R. Clawson

Nolan R. ClawsonNolan R Clawson passed away at his home April 11, 2019, at the age of 95.

Nolan was born on Feb 29, 1924, to Vollie Roy Clawson and Clara Lee Washington in Rocky, Ark. As a young boy, Nolan lived in Oklahoma and New Mexico, and the family finally settled in Hatfield, Ark., where he graduated from high school.

While there he became a fan of the Oklahoma Sooners and always made time to watch their football games on TV.

The young family moved to Houston to be closer to Jacque’s family. Nolan worked as an auto mechanic for one of the local Ford dealerships. This is where their second child, Kathryn, was born. In the spring of 1953, the young family moved to Ridgecrest. Nolan had several jobs ranging from auto mechanic to cement truck driver before going to work at the China Lake naval base as a mechanic in 1960. He retired when the Transportation Department was contracted out in 1982.
