April is Child-Abuse Prevention month

April is Child-Abuse  Prevention monthThe Kern County Department of Human Services will kick off its observance of Child Abuse Prevention Month in Ridgecrest on Friday, April 12, at 10 a.m. at the Ridgecrest Regional Hospital.

The ceremony will include a flag-raising in memory of the children lost to child abuse.

The Kern County Board of Supervisors is expected to adopt a proclamation for the observance at the board’s Tuesday, April 2, meeting in Bakersfield.

“The DHS, with support from our partners, will highlight the importance of child-abuse prevention and ask the community to help us in our efforts to prevent child abuse and neglect,” said Department Director Dena Murphy. “Child Abuse Prevention Month is an opportunity to promote community awareness of the serious problem of child abuse in Kern County, and to encourage positive actions needed to stop preventable harm to children.”

RRH is one of the partners working with the department to eliminate child abuse in the county and to give children in our community hope, security and safety.
