Discussion and action items on the Ridgecrest City Council’s March 20 agenda include several items for various public works projects including the Ridgecrest Senior Center and intersection/crosswalk improvements.

The council is asked to approve a change order of $28,221.60 in extra work for the recently completed Senior Center renovation project. The change in cost falls within the original contingency funds.

Council is also asked to approve PVC Plumbing & Mechanical bid to construct intersection improvements at South Downs Street and Bowman Road. The anticipated fiscal impact is $10,055.40 in addition to $135,200 in previously allocated Measure V funds.

PVC Plumbing & Mechanical was also the low bidder for crosswalk improvements as part of the Highway Safety Improvement Project. The fiscal impact is projected to be $11,007.20 in addition to $195,500 in previously allocated Measure V funds.

Other discussion items are a request from Sonland Apartments for the city to vacate right-of way to the southern half of East Bataan Avenue between Sunland Street and Gemstone Street.

Council will also hear an update on the IWV Groundwater Authority and provide direction to its representative Councilmember Scott Hayman.
