L. Dell Hledik

L. Dell Hledik, 72, of Inyokern passed away Jan. 16, 2019

Dell’s memorial service will be held at the H. K. Holland Memorial Chapel on March 22 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, Dell would have appreciated donations to any of the following charities: Ridgecrest Animal Shelter, Maturango Museum or ASPCA.

She was born to John and Mamie Hogan, July 30, 1946, in San Diego, Calif. Dell received an AA degree from Cerro Coso Community College, and a BA and MBA from California State University Bakersfield.

Dell married the late Jack Hledik in 1988. Together they created Jade Paints, which specialized in breeding, training and showing paint horses. Their horses were awarded Grand Champions multiple times in many different categories. Dell was active in the horse community here in Indian Wells Valley for more than 45 years.

Dell was immensely proud of her family, especially her daughter, and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories. As her health declined, she often stated that she had had a good life.

Dell was a DOD employee for more than 30 years, ending her career as a contracting officer. She was awarded many letters of recognition and Outstanding Achievement Awards throughout her years of service. She retired in 2007, and because of her extensive expertise was asked to become a contractor for a specific program to help coordinate an upcoming contract.

Dell volunteered as a tax preparer for AARP at the Ridgecrest Senior Center for many years. She also was a docent at the Navy Museum at the Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake.

Dell always loved animals. Besides horses, there were always cats and dogs to be found at her home.

Dell is survived by her daughter, Jill Stansell, and her brother, Christopher Hogan.
