Elaine Marie Thomas

Elaine Marie Thomas, age 88, of Ridgecrest, passed into eternity Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2019.

A Memorial Mass in honor and celebration of Elaine will be held at Saint Ann Catholic Church, 446 W. Church St., Ridgecrest, Saturday, Jan. 26, at 11 a.m., followed with a graveside service at Desert Memorial Park at 12:30 p.m., and a reception at Saint Ann.

Elaine was born June 29, 1930, daughter of the late John and Aura Moriarty, and was raised in Monson, Mass. She graduated from Monson High School in 1947 and made her home with her family in California thereafter, having been a resident of Ridgecrest for the past 50 years.

Elaine was preceded in death by her daughter, Denise Ellen McEntee. She is survived by her loving husband Charles “Chuck” Thomas; daughter, Susan Brock; son, David Cleveland; stepson, Scott Thomas; stepdaughter, Karen Sanders; grandchildren, Jennifer Celestine, Erik Victor Kunkel, Matthew McKinney, Michael McKinney, Stephanie Martinez, Jessica Luoma, Kathryn McKinney, Joseph Cleveland, Derek Cleveland, Jeremiah Cleveland and David Cleveland, Jr. She also leaves 12 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, as well as many other family members and friends, all of whom will sadly miss her.

Elaine was a faithful member of Saint Ann Catholic Church, a wonderfully dedicated and talented homemaker and a former telephone operator. She will be remembered for her love, kindness and generosity for her family, her steadfast faith, her wonderful sense of humor and wit, and her adoration and care for her “honey” and husband, the love of her life. She and Chuck enjoyed traveling in their camper throughout the western states, hiking the desert canyons and mountains and exploring as many new restaurants as possible. She especially loved their Friday date nights.
