“We’ve crossed the $60,000 mark in donations!” announced Stephen Morgan of the Ridgecrest Lions Club last week during the public comment portion of the Ridgecrest City Council meeting.

Morgan was there to promote the club’s next fundraiser for Pinney Pool, a dinner-auction scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 23, at the Kerr McGee Center.

“We’re keeping it fairly small because we’ve never done this before as an organization,” said Morgan. “But we’re hoping to raise $15,000 more.”

Tickets are $55 per person or $800 for a table sponsorship, which includes eight tickets as well as some advertising.

“The majority of the money will pay all the residual costs, that way everything from the auction is put into the Pinney Pool account,” said Morgan.

Community members and businesses have donated live and silent auction items.

There will also be a desert auction and a “wine pull.”

“Each pull is $20,” said Morgan. “And the wine ranges from $100 bottles down to ‘Two-Buck Chuck.’”

Doors open at 5 p.m. for the event. Dinner is at 6 p.m., followed by the auction events. Contact Morgan for tickets at 760-977-2600. “Make contact early — only 160 seats and they will go fast!”
