Highway 395 claimed two more lives last Friday, Jan. 11, after a head-on collision in Adelanto— the latest fatal accident on a familiar stretch of road where dozens lost their lives last year.

According to a release from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Adelanto office, the driver of a Cadillac SUV, later identified by the coroner’s office as 59-year-old Los Alamitos resident Adam West, was traveling south on Hwy 395 when he crossed over a double-yellow line into oncoming traffic.

The SUV struck a northbound Toyota Camry, killing both drivers. The driver of the Camry was later identified as Mark Snow, a 35-year-old resident of Helendale.

Two unnamed female passengers, one from each vehicle, were reportedly airlifted for unknown injuries.

Details about the incident were not available at press time, and it is unknown if alcohol was a factor. The collision is still under investigation.

Anyone with pertinent information is encouraged to call Deputy Katie Merrill at 760-552-6800.
