While the agenda for the Ridgecrest City Council’s Dec. 19 meeting was not available at press time, the council announced last week that it would continue to approve appointments for committee vacancies.

Committees with at least one vacancy include the Measure V Oversight Committee, ACTION Committee, Personnel Commission, Construction Appeals Board and Ridgecrest Area Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Newly elected Councilmember Scott Hayman nominated Derrick Mackey to serve on the Planning Commission. Hayman also replaced Mayor Peggy Breeden as representative to the Indian Wells Valley Groundwater Authority. Breeden will serve as alternate.

Breeden and Mayor Pro Tem Lindsey Stephens were appointed to the ACTION Committee, Vice Mayor Wallace Martin and Councilmember Mike Mower were appointed to the Kern Council of Governments Committee, Breeden and Martin were appointed to the Veterans Advisory Committee, Martin and Stephens were appointed to the Youth Advisory Committee, Breeden and Martin were appointed to the Navy Community Council, Martin and Stephens were appointed as League of California Cities representatives, Stephens and Martin were appointed to the Economic Development Committee, Stephens and Mower were appointed to the Infrastructure Committee, Mower and Hayman were appointed to the Finance Committee and Stephens and Hayman were appointed to the Parks and Recreation Quality of Life Committee.

The council will next meet Wednesday, Dec. 19, 6 p.m. at City Hall. Agenda information will be available at ridgecrest-ca.gov/council-agendas.
