‘Eat Cake’ auditions coming up next week

‘Eat Cake’ auditions coming up next weekMaster Mystery Productions will hold auditions for “Eat Cake,” a new interactive mystery play, on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 14-15, from 5-7 p.m. at Red Rock Books.

The creators of “Exit Prima Donna” will once again stage a production at the Amargosa Opera House. The latest play features a murder mystery farce set in the palace of Versailles during the French Revolution.

“The eccentric and flamboyant Marquis Mauvais has taken up the latest fashion in philanthropy when he scoops up Brigitte the Bawd from the streets of Paris and aims to transform her from the slums to the salons,” said writer-director Daniel Stallings.

“Little does he know that his pet project intends to smuggle dangerous revolutionaries into the palace. When a series of failed assassinations at multiple targets rock the marquis’ apartments, a madcap maze of motives and mistaken identity is exposed.”

Stallings described the script as a hilarious, high-speed mystery-comedy with wacky characters, snarky dialogue, screwball secrets and tumultuous twists and turns “that make you wonder if anyone can have their cake and eat it too.”

Roles are available for four females and two males. Actors must be 15 or older, and anyone younger than 18 will need to have a parent or guardian sign a release form and be present at all rehearsals.

Auditioners will be asked to read selected passages from the script.

Performances have been scheduled for four consecutive Saturdays in March and April. The rehearsal schedule will be finalized following auditions, and rehearsals will begin in January.
