Hit-and-run suspect faces charges

California Highway Patrol officers have arrested the suspect for a hit-and-run collision that left one motorcyclist dead and another in critical condition Saturday, Nov. 24.

According to court records, Morgyn Dobson, 44, is facing three felony charges – vehicle manslaughter, hit-and-run resulting in death and hit-and-run resulting in injury.

According to reports, Dobson fled the scene of the accident after his eastbound Honda Civic struck two westbound motorcyclists on Bowman Road between Brown Road and Highway 395.

One motorcyclist, Shawn Chromi, was killed while the other, Brian Berry, was airlifted to Antelope Valley Hospital where he required a leg amputation among other serious surgeries.

Reportedly left at the scene was an unnamed female passenger, who also sustained major injuries.

Officers of the Ridgecrest Police Department reportedly located Dobson later, and CHP responded to interview him. He was arrested on Friday, Nov. 30.

Dobson was booked at the Central Receiving Facility in Bakersfield. His bail is set at $200,000.

His pre-preliminary hearing and bail review are set for Friday, Dec. 11, 10:30 a.m. in Ridgecrest and his preliminary hearing will be Dec. 13, 10:30 a.m. in Ridgecrest.
