Seasonal rains expected to miss Ridgecrest

Seasonal rains expected to miss RidgecrestWhile Thursday morning’s rain was enough to leave its footprints in and around the valley, China Lake Weather Officer Tamera Walters said it amounted to only a fraction of an inch. “However, it rained cats and dogs just north of us,” she said. Forecast models show additional showers through the weekend, but Walters said experts are predicting a dry winter this year. “It’s an El Niño year; however, the storm is setting up further west from its typical spot. When that happens, we end up getting a dryer flow here,” said Walters. “It looks like Northern California will get good rain, though.” She added that could translate into good snow for Mammoth, as well. — Photo by Laura Austin
