Delphi Trio returns to Ridgecrest

Delphi Trio returns to RidgecrestThe Ridgecrest Chamber Music Society will host the Delphi Trio on Sunday, Dec. 9, at 4 p.m. in the Ridgecrest Presbyterian Church.

The trio, featuring Liana Bérubé on violin, Michelle Kwon on cello and Eunmi Ko on piano, will perform music by Robert Schumann (Piano Trio No. 2 in F Major, Opus 80), Chan Ka Nin (Among Friends), and Franz Schubert (Piano Trio No. 2 in E-Flat Major, Opus 100).

Praised for “spot-on ensemble playing and a beautifully blended sound” (San Francisco Classical Voice) and “rich, committed string tone, dazzling pianism, rhythmic flexibility, and risky tempi” (Sarasota Herald-Tribune), the Delphi Trio has become a powerfully eloquent voice in the world of chamber music.

Members of the trio are on the faculty of the Crowden School’s summer chamber music programs, where they coach and mentor musicians of all ages. The trio formed while studying in the Chamber Music Program at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.

The trio’s stay in Ridgecrest will include two school programs, a community concert at the Maturango Museum, a special performance at Ridgecrest Regional Hospital’s Skilled Nursing Facility and the performance for RCMS.

The concert at the museum is free and will be held Friday. Dec. 7, at 7 p.m. Seating is limited and will be on a first-come first-seated basis. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

That performance will feature an introduction to chamber music, including the Delphi Trio’s approach to music-making. Their central theme consists of three “action words” that deliver the music: prepare, care and share.

“These are the ways in which music comes to life and mirror the trio’s guiding principles to develop artistry, build community and encourage self-awareness. Delphi will use musical examples to demonstrate each concept.”

Tickets for the RCMS concert ($25 general admission, $20 per senior and $5 per student or active-duty military) are available at Red Rock Books, the Maturango Museum and the door. For more information see the RCMS website,, or call Karen Haden, 760-371-5936.
