KCFD issues burn restrictions

Kern County Fire Department issued a reminder to the public this week that, because of drought and long-range weather forecasts, open burning of hazardous fuels is currently restricted.

“We will continue to closely monitor fuel and weather conditions and will allow open burning when appropriate,” said an office.

Officials continued to conduct prescribed burn operations in areas including Lake Isabella. “In the days to come, smoke may be seen in areas throughout Kern County,” said the spokesperson. “These operations are being conducted to remove brush piles and reduce fire hazards. Operations are expected to be completed each day by midafternoon.”
