Firefighters help Salvation Army round up holiday donations

Firefighters help Salvation Army round up holiday donationsKern County Firefighters help deliver food baskets, provided to eligible families by the Salvation Army. A multitude of individuals and organizations came together to support the project — including SBC Wireless (donated 200 turkeys), Ridgecrest Farmer’s Market (gathered canned good donations), Girl Scout Troops 3699 and 3168 (bagged vegetables for food baskets), military volunteers (assembled more than 200 food baskets) and China Lake Child and Youth programs, which collected more than 2,500 pounds of food for the needy. The Salvation Army will distribute hundreds of Thanksgiving packages this week, then will turn around and begin the campaign to collect food for Christmas.
