DAR to host ‘Wreaths Across America’

The Panamint Springs Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution are seeking volunteers to participate in the nationwide “Wreaths Across America” movement, hosted Saturday, Dec. 15, at 9 a.m. at Desert Memorial Park.

This is the first time the local cemetery will be a part of the national observance to honor veterans.

Any individual can sponsor a wreath, to be placed on a veteran’s grave, for a $15 tax-deductible sponsorship.

“The Wreaths Across America program, strives to ensure that the lives of our men and women in uniform are remembered,” said Kelly McDonald of DAR, who is also serving as the site coordinator. “We believe it is our responsibility as Americans to be their witnesses and to share their stories of service and sacrifice with the next generation.”

A ceremony will open the event, followed by wreath placement. All families and individuals are invited to attend.

Those interested in volunteering can contact McDonald at 760-793-7360, or panamintspringsdar@ gmail.com. Anyone who wants to donate a wreath can do so online at www.wreathsaccrossamerica.org/ CA0399P.
