Dale Richard Freeman

Dale Richard “Dick” Freeman of Ridgecrest passed away quietly at home on Thursday, Nov. 1.

He was born in La Port City, Iowa, on July 23, 1928, to his mother Cleo E. Freeman and father Manly Freeman. He grew up in Long Beach and moved to Ridgecrest in the early 1950s to start his career at the Naval Ordnance Test Station as an explosive ordnanceman. He then worked at the Technical Information Department until his retirement in 1981 with the Naval Air Warfare Center.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father, his wife Elizabeth (Betty), his daughter Valerie Reese, son Steve Lovern and grandson Steven Lovern. He is survived by his daughter Vickie Salter and family, son Jeffrey Freeman and family, son Richard Lovern and family, 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

He was laid to rest Friday, Nov. 9, at 1 p.m. at Desert Memorial Park Cemetery.
