To the Editor: Altrusa thanks supporters

Altrusa International of Indian Wells Valley just completed a very successful KidSpree. With just a few children left to shop, we were able to give 90 children warm winter clothing. We couldn’t have done this without the help of some very generous organizations and individuals.

First, we would like to thank the Walmart store for cooperation from managers to employees. They were helpful and provided us with what we needed to run the event.

We were also supported by generous donations from BPOE Elks, Rotary, WACOM, Evan Etoch Memorial Foundation, Walmart Foundation, Jacqueline Jones and an anonymous donor. Along with Altrusa’s donation, these donors provided the funds for the clothing the children received. Salvation Army, Friends of the Library, Teaching Kids to Fish and DART donated books for each child.

Gathering nearly 100 chaperones was no small feat, but the people of Ridgecrest once again came through! They are so giving of their time and efforts to help these children.

A big thanks also goes to the Friends of Rachel Club at Burroughs High School for their assistance with chaperoning. These young adults are outstanding!

We are blessed to live in a community where things like KidSpree can happen! We are already looking forward to next year’s event.
