To the Editor: Thanks WACOM for support

I want to thank WACOM for its recent gift to the Ridgecrest Military Banners Program. This is a significant show of support for this program. More importantly it is a show of support for local members of the United States Armed Forces (Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and Coast Guard). WACOM volunteers provide a big service for our community in their continuing support for local nonprofit organizations.

I want to also thank the American Legion and the Legion Riders for stepping up to take over this worthy program. They handle all the logistical and administrative requirements in addition to supporting the job of hoisting these banners. The banners are located on poles on our city streets. Each banner has a photograph of a servicemember as well as that person’s name and branch of service.

Lastly, I want to thank our Mayor Peggy Breeden for her strong support for the Military Banners Program.

Military Banners Program support by WACOM, the Legion and our mayor is highly appreciated by servicemembers and their families, friends and neighbors.

James R. Carr, First Sergeant, U.S. Army (Retired), Ridgecrest Military Banners Program Council Member
