Cerro Coso offers dual enrollment

Cerro Coso Community College reminds students and their parents that students at Burroughs High School offers many dual-enrollment programs that allow students to earn college credit.

Health Careers at BHS is articulated for two classes at CCCC with a grade of a “B” or better. “If a high school student is interested in a career in medicine, this is a great way to get started and receive college credit!” said a spokesperson.

According to U.S. Bureau of Labor statistics, medical assisting is one of the nation’s fastest-growing careers, with an estimated growth of 34 percent between 2012 and 2018.

Students in Cerro Coso’s Medical Assisting program have the opportunity to develop the necessary clinical skills needed to be effective medical assistants and to prepare themselves for the state exam for medical assistants.

“Students can get a taste of what college is like without being completely overwhelmed with a whole new environment, and the dual enrollment program allows them to accumulate credits prior to entering college so they will be able to graduate from college early or on time,” said the spokesperson.

Interested candidates should contact their high school counselors to find out if they are eligible, and to learn how to apply for the program.
