Turkey Trot is Thanksgiving morning

The Over the Hill Track Club will host the annual Turkey Trot 5K on Thanksgiving morning, Nov. 22, at the Cerro Coso Community College gym parking lot.

Registration begins at 7:30 a.m., followed by the race at 8:30 a.m. Although there is no fee for entry, the club suggests a donation of $5 from each participant.

“Work off that turkey dinner before you eat,” encouraged Race Director Anthony Barnes.

Top male and female finishers will receive the traditional “Rubber Chicken” prizes.

Following the run-walk through the Rademacher Hills south of College Heights Boulevard, participants will gather (at approximately 9:45 a.m.) for refreshments and a chance to win drawing prizes (must be present to win).

Past prize contributors include Aquarium of the Pacific, Baskin Robbins, Burros Bargain Cards, Charley’s Grilled Subs, Pizza Factory, Beanster’s Espresso, Crystal Geyser, Ridgecrest Dairy, State Farm, Papa John’s, Scentsy, Sensation’s Salon, Star Nails and Xin Bowl.

More are Lugo’s Grill, Taqueria Bernardino’s, Subway, Square Print, Ridgecrest Cinemas, Casa Corona, Casey’s Steak and Barbecue, Denny’s, Corny’s Shoes, Pony Espresso, Murray XC, Burroughs Track and XC, OTHTC, IWV Soccer Club and Walmart.

“Thank you to all the local businesses and organizations making contributions to this event and the Burroughs High School Boys and Girls Cross programs and parents,” said Barnes.
