Desert Empire Fairgrounds

When was the last time you visited a family-friendly little country fair? Nowadays some of the big fairs in California have become so crowded, expensive and unsafe that many have eliminated the venues from their list of entertainment options. The Desert Empire Fair in Ridgecres is an exception to the norm.

Located within three hours’ drive from most Southern California cities this is an overnight trip which will bring back those sounds, smells, taste and fun from childhood days gone by. After all “everybody loves a fair”!

Our fair will feature music you’ll know with “Life in the Fast Lane” Eagles’ tribute, ’60’s Summer of Love psychedelic rock-n-soul and Big Bad Boogie Express to bring out your inner disco. The Sheleighlys, one of Southern California’s and Ridgecrest’s most sought-after Irish bands will have you doing the jig!

We will also have, straight from Las Vegas, Martin Mancuso featuring his singing and sax talents, with Hit’s Alive throughout the fair located on the food court stage and strolling.

We offer more than five hours of free entertainment for the whole family. Skip Bank’s the Balloon Man (back by popular demand from 2016) will have you bent over with laughter, Phoenix the friendly dragon will awe both kids and adults alike, while Freddy Prez will mesmerize and entertain with his crazy contest and prizes. The Great American Duck races will have you cheering and laughing, while Street Drum Corps just off America’s Got Talent will impress with a rhythm show for the ages.

We are excited to have The NASCAR Experience featuring an actual simulator car that NASCAR drivers trained in. It’s a total race- day experience.

The kids will love our huge petting zoo. Check out our brand-new barn area sponsored by Junior Livestock, with rabbits, pigs, goats and cattle. Support these great kids’ projects and be sure to come bid at our auction, Saturday at 4 p.m.

Our stillx exhibits will show off the crafts and skills of creators from 8 to 80, with more than 100 exhibitors.

Looking to find that unique fair product or trinket? Ee will have more than 50 vendors. Looking for that unique fair food? You won’t be disappointed from our exclusive Knight Burgers, funnel cakes, lobster rolls, cheese curds, fried (fill in the blank), Hawaiian BBQ to grilled corn – it’s all here.

After a seven-year absence, the Demo Derby will be back at the fair, with the Desert Destruction Demo Derby sponsored by DVFCU on Sunday at 5 p.m.

A family of four could enjoy all this for less than 100 bucks — assuming we’re not paying for your beer and food! Come on out, spend a day or two at the fair and you will end up making this an annual adventure. See you all there!
