The Burroughs High School varsity football team played its last nonconference game against Bishop Union High School last week.

The members of the Burros varsity came their closest to a win this season, but ultimately fell 17-21 to the Bishop Broncos.

Junior Brett Stephy scored both of the team’s touchdowns with a 30-yard field goal by Junior Noa Crescencio.

The Burros will face the currently undefeated Apple Valley Sun Devils Friday night, Sept. 28, 7 p.m. at Burroughs.

This will mark the first conference game of the season for the Mojave River League, which includes Burroughs, Serrano, Oak Hills, Sultana and Hesperia High Schools.

Highlights from the game, and a photo gallery, will be published on Facebook (find and like “The News Review”) after the game.
