Dept. of Fish and Wildlife proposes sheep study

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has proposed to study and monitor desert bighorn sheep (ovis candensis nelsoni) populations throughout the California Desert District to collect the data needed to develop effective management strategies to ensure their survival.

This proposal does not include the peninsular population of desert bighorn sheep, which is federally listed as endangered and covered under a programmatic environmental impact statement.
