The Ridgecrest City Council is scheduled to meet Wednesday, Sept. 5, at 6 p.m. when council will discuss potentially selling three acres of the Ridgecrest Business Park to Phoenix Management in addition to donating use of the Kerr McGee Center for community events.

The city received an offer of $590,000 for 3.01 acres located in the Ridgecrest Business Park – just north of Desert Valleys Federal Credit Union – from Phoenix Management II, LLC. The agenda did not describe the entire fiscal impact on the city, but that its share of transactional costs would be taken out of the purchase price.

The agenda did not specify Phoenix Management’s plans for the property; details were not available at press time.

The agenda also includes two separate items regarding in-kind donations of Kerr McGee Community Center use.

The International Community Day Committee has requested use of the full banquet hall and kitchen for Ridgecrest’s third-annual International Community Day. The request is for an in-kind donation for facility use, normally $780.

The second item is for rehearsal space for the Ridgecrest Children’s Chorus. The chorus intends to use one of the center’s small rooms three days a week through June 2019. The in-kind donation would cover the fee of $46 per day.

The meeting’s consent calendar includes only the approval of council’s Aug. 15 meeting minutes.

Council will also recognize city employees for their milestone service: Mary Stage (30 years); Edward Hamilton (10 years); and Paul Gillette, Jason Patin and Matthew Rowland (5 years).

Ridgecrest Police Department dispatcher Cathy Loren will be recognized upon her retirement.
