Charter School completes Phase I of expansion

Charter School completes Phase I of expansionStaff, boardmembers and students of the Ridgecrest Charter School are joined by members of the Ridgecrest Chamber of Commerce to celebrate the final stages of Phase I of the school’s ongoing expansion. The school wrapped up traffic improvements, parking-lot resurfacing, the addition of two classrooms and ground preparation for the next phase. According to RCS Board President Eric Bruen, Phase 2 will include six additional classrooms — which replace aging infrastructure as well as expand capacity for the student population. “The other major addition will be a gymnasium to support our campus events,” he said. “We will be upgrading several other areas of the campus, including security, energy generation and student shading. All of these improvements will be funded through a school bond and cash capital investment from the school.” He expected the phase to begin in January and conclude next August. The school also recently qualified this year to provide free breakfast and lunch to all students in the upcoming year — Photo by Laura Austin
