Contract training offered in IWV

Contract training offered in IWVThe Ridgecrest Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, Ridgecrest Chamber of Commerce and IWV Economic Development Corp. are collaborating to present online and in-person training to prepare small businesses leading up to the California Contract Acquisition Procurement event Nov. 7-8 at the Kerr McGee Center.

“The CCAP event attracts businesses from across the country to Ridgecrest for opportunities available from NAWCWD China Lake, with the announcement of its Long- Range Acquisition Forecast,” said an RAVCB spokesperson.

The LRAF outlines the contract types the base is planning to fill in the coming years.

The training sessions, which continue in August, help prepare local businesses to capture available opportunities.

“We have built our collaboration with NAWCWD on a foundation of providing an exciting program that provides opportunities for the business community, and we are thrilled to be able to include special training for Ridgecrest’s small businesses,” said Doug Lueck, executive director of RACVB.

“Ridgecrest is looking to integrate active relationships between the base and the community, with these training sessions serving as an important connection to meet technological, social and other support needs of the base.”

The next session, conducted by the Small Business Administration, will be held Thursday, Aug. 16, at the Kerr McGee Center from 1-3 p.m. The session will provide information on competing for contracts regionally and statewide.

This is also great groundwork for businesses to move toward achieving certification on the federal level, said a spokesperson for the training workshops.

Workshops will continue through mid-October.

A full schedule is available at Workshops are free. Registration will close one hour before each event.
