Richard ‘Dick’ Tolkmitt

Richard ‘Dick’ TolkmittDick Tolkmitt passed away July 14, 2018, in Ridgecrest.

He was born June 15, 1933, in Los Angeles and moved from Sylmar to China Lake in 1951 with his family. Dick was a graduate of Burroughs High School and Bakersfield College, and served three years in the U.S. Army. He retired from the Naval Weapons Center and worked for several more years as a civilian contractor.

Dick was a life member of the Elks. He loved to travel with family and friends in his motor home. Over the years he and Donna traveled over much of the U.S. and in recent years spent as much time as possible on the central coast near family.

Dick is survived by his wife, Donna; son, Mark Tolkmitt (Shayna); grandchildren, Sorrel and Calla of Ojai; daughter, Nancy Thornton (Steve); and grandchildren, Casey and Sean of Orcutt, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his son, David, in 2011.
