Delores ‘Dee’ Clarke

Delores ‘Dee’ ClarkeDelores “Dee” Clarke passed away June 29, 2018, in San Bernadino.

Dee was born May 17, 1923, to Robert Roberts and Irene Giordani in Los Angeles. She grew up and graduated from high school in Los Angeles. She married Floyd “Bud” Marker in 1941. They had two children and divorced in 1949. She moved to China Lake in 1949 to join her dad and some family members who had gone there.

She went to work at China Lake, where she worked for 35 years. She transferred to Hawaii for two years and worked for the admiral there.

Then she moved back to China Lake and finished out her 35 years. She worked on most of the ranges on base, and her last several years were at SNORT. She hosted a few field trips for her grandchildren’s classes out to view the SNORT sled.

She married Frank Cosenza in 1950 and they had one child. Frank and Dee lived on base until 1960 when they and their three children moved to a home they built in Ridgecrest.

They divorced, and she later married Robert Clarke. Dee bought a place in Blue River, Ore., next to one of her sisters and brother-in-law. After her retirement she would spend summers in Oregon and winters in Ridgecrest.

Her home in Oregon was across the street from the Mckenzie River, where she fished. She was an avid fisherman. She also was a bowler all her life. She was in many leagues throughout the years and continued bowling in Oregon until her 80s.

Dee enjoyed being with her family and rarely missed any of her grandchildren’s games or activities. She loved being at all her family’s events and was crazy about her-great grandchildren. Her family meant everything to her.

She was preceded in death by her two former husbands, Floyd Marker and Frank Cosenza; her two sons, Ronny Marker and Greg Cosenza; five of her siblings Robert Roberts, Earnie Roberts, Norma Overstreet, Betty Buscke and Terri Harris; and and nephew Greg Hill.

She is survived by her daughter Karen Mather; sisters Barbara McGovern and Pat (Peaches) Kemble; brother Steve Roberts; granddaughters Roni Woolley and Treanna Hernandez (Gabrial); grandsons Troy Mather (Jayme) Danny Mather (Krista), Todd Mather (Jennifer) and Thomas Mather (Kelly); stepgrandson Mike Mather; stepgranddaughters Leanne Armsong and Kelly Karakas (Tony); grandson Scott Marker; and granddaughters Sheri Perry (Duane), Shelly Hill and Suzy Ruffin. She had numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Services were held July 14 at RCA Church.
