Ridgecrest natives earn achievements accross the nation

Smith makes SUNY Dean’s List

Megan Smith of Ridgecrest earned a place on the State University of New York, Potsdam, Dean’s List for the spring semester.

Smith, a psychology major, was among 313 students who managed to maintain the minimum 3.25 grade-point average while carrying 12 or more units.

Founded in 1816, the State University of New York at Potsdam is one of America’s first 50 colleges. Now in its third century, SUNY Potsdam is distinguished by a legacy of pioneering programs and educational excellence. The college currently enrolls approximately 3,600 undergraduate and graduate students.

Hise graduates cum laude

Sara Caroline Kelly Hise of Ridgecrest graduated cum laude May 20, 2018, earning a bachelor’s degree from Mary Baldwin University.

Founded in 1842, Mary Baldwin University is a small, coeducational university offering a range of degree programs from bachelor to doctoral.

The university serves a vibrant student population on its main campus in Staunton, Va., at its nearby health sciences campus in Augusta County, online and through regional advising centers throughout Virginia. All programs are coeducational except at the Mary Baldwin College for Women.

Locals named to Azusa Dean’s List

Two Ridgecrest natives were among the students of Azusa Pacific University who made the stringent criteria for inclusion on the academic Dean’s List.

Leanne Fuller and Ashley Steimer both earned a 3.5 grade-point average (or better) during the spring 2018 semester.

Azusa Pacific University is an evangelical Christian university committed to God first and excellence in higher education. With 80 bachelor’s degrees, 51 master’s degrees, 25 certificates, 12 credentials, 8 doctoral programs, and 2 associate’s degrees, the university offers its more than 10,300 students a quality education on campus, online and at six regional centers throughout Southern California.

King makes President’s List

Benjamin King of Ridgecrest was named to the President’s List for the spring semester at the University of Alabama.

To be eligible for this distinction, King was required to maintain a 4.0 academic record while carrying a full course load.

King is the son of Stewart and Shawn King of Ridgecrest.
