Public pumping fee hearing is July 10

News Review Staff Writer

The Indian Wells Valley Groundwater Authority will hold a public meeting Tuesday, July 10, at 6 p.m. to provide the public with information on the Authority’s proposed groundwater extraction fee.

Irritated members of the public left the previously scheduled informational meeting in Inyokern when it was prematurely canceled because of insufficient space.

Tuesday’s meeting will take place at City Hall to accommodate a larger crowd.

Select Authority staff and board members will be on hand to provide details about the $30-per-acre-foot fee that may go into effect as early as September. The board approved the first reading of the ordinance last week and is expected to approve the final resolution on July 19.
