Mud Run is this weekend at fairgroundsThe China Lake Desert Chief Petty Officers’ Association is partnering with the Desert Empire Fairgrounds to host the annual Mud Run on Saturday, June 23, at 6:30 a.m.

“We are producing one frolicking, fitness-testing, feel-good event,” said an event spokesperson. The family-friendly 5K run/walk includes a winding obstacle course through mud pits and some other surprises.

The timed event offers cash prizes in men’s and women’s categories in four age divisions. The cost is $30 per person. A children’s course, for ages 10 and younger, is available for $10. One children’s ticket will be offered free for each adult ticket purchased.

Same-day registration begins at 5:30 a.m. Tickets can also be purchased online at or from Ridgecrest Area Convention and Visitors Bureau and the city Parks and Recreation Dept.
