James Lee Cronkhite

James Lee Cronkhite, age 84, died at Ridgecrest Regional Hospital in Ridgecrest on June 10, 2018. The cause was heart failure.

Born July 29, 1933, in Indiana, he always loved a journey, and his desires and military career took him to 100 countries before he settled in Ridgecrest.

After his military career as a decorated veteran, he went on to retire from Northrop Grumman and most recently retired as a renowned friendly Walmart greeter.

Survivors include his wife Felicidad (Tita) Cronkhite of Ridgecrest, his daughter Mary Cronkhite-Johns and her spouse Becky Cronkhite-Johns of Seattle, Wash. A loving extended family included Doni Allman, Kyle Cox and his spouse Gigi Cox of Ridgecrest, as well as his beautiful grandchildren Nicholas (Cole) Kyle Cox, Phoebe Kylann Cox, Devin Ronning, Ari Pedrotti and Kenny Schmahl.

Viewing services will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Friday, June 15, at the H.K. Holland Memorial Chapel, 216 S. Norma St. in Ridgecrest.

A memorial service and Celebration of Life reception will be held from 2 p.m.-5 p.m., Saturday, June 16, at Ridgecrest Elks Lodge #1913, 201 E. Church Street in Ridgecrest.

All are welcome at the memorial service starting at 2 p.m. and the potluck-style reception immediately following the ceremony from 3 p.m.-5 p.m.
