The Ridgecrest Chamber of Commerce will host a gala dinner Friday, June 15, in honor of the inaugural graduation of the Leadership Ridgecrest class.

Doors of the Kerr McGee Center will open at 5:30 p.m. for a no-host reception, followed by dinner at 6:15 and the program at 7:15. Dancing will follow at 8:30.

Leadership Ridgecrest was launched a year ago, modeled after the successful Leadership Bakersfield, offering 10 participants networking and learning opportunities and with invested community leaders. During the last nine months, participants have learned about Community Government, Health and Human Services, Communications and Media Relations, Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement and Research and Development.

Candidates are also required to complete Team Projects, conceived and executed by participants, that will benefit the community. The projects include the “Work-Ready Program,” which targets high school students and teaches them skills necessary for a successful career, and “StigmaFree IWV,” which aims at starting to erase the stigma associated with mental illness.

“It was great watching a team grow out of all of these individuals,” said Program Chair Debbie Benson. “I had the opportunity to work with them during their Arts and Culture Day and was very impressed with their level of engagement.”

The dress code for the event is semi-formal. For reservations, due, June 11, call the chamber at 760-375-8331.
