Cyclists hold ’Ride of Silence’Ridgecrest Police Department Reserve Officer Marty Dorrell escorts cyclists through Ridgecrest during the sixth annual Ride of Silence. The High Sierra Cyclists host the annual event in observance of bicyclists who have lost their lives on public roadways. According to Rebecca Kunkel of HSC, the event also aims to increase awareness in the cycling community, “reminding us all that we have both rights and responsibilities while on the road as cyclists and motorists.” About 20 people participated in the demonstration. “It was another sobering and successful Ride of Silence,” she said. She also thanked RPD for its support. — Photo by Laura Austin
