IWVCA earns SSUSD Service Award

The Indian Wells Valley Concert Association was honored at the most recent board meeting of the Sierra Sand Unified School District, which selected the non-profit organization as the recipient of this year’s Community Service Award.

Superintendent Ernie Bell selected the group to recognize the IWVCA’s contributions to students in our community.

“Our district is very fortunate to have so much wonderful community support that it was especially difficult to choose an individual or individuals who most personify advocacy for the district and support of the community,” said Bell.

“While there were many worthy candidates, we would like to recognize the Indian Wells Valley Concert Association for their student programs which began in 1980 and have continued every year.”

He said that over the last decade, the donations in production and transportation costs have exceeded $46,000. On hand to accept the award were IWVCA board members Bob Covington and Ann Norris, who also served the district as a teacher for many years.
