Station Street kicks off band seriesPopular local band “Station Street” will kick off a summer music series at Xin Bowl Asian Bistro with a performance on Friday, May 11, from 6-10 p.m.

“Station Street is an awesome band. They always put on a really good show,” said Traci Campbell, bar and entertainment manager for Xin Bowl.

Attendees can order off the menu and from the bar, with Xin Bowl featuring specials for the occasion.

The venue began hosting performers during the warm months six years ago. Station Street opened the inaugural series, as well.

The band includes Jim Sweany on bass and lead vocals, Scooter on drums, Kirk Hulgren on trumpet, Greg Turnbaugh on keyboards and Greg Velicer on lead guitar.

“Local residents know what a fine evening of entertainment to expect,” said a spokesperson. Four of the musicians graduated from Burroughs High School and have been playing together for decades.

“Station Street plays a little bit of everything,” said Sweany, who listed blues, swing, country and classic rock among the genres the band plays. “We all like to see people having fun, singing along and out dancing.

The series will continue through September, featuring appearances by The Whatevers, Driving 395 and Six Feet Over. There is no cover charge to attend.
