Officers of the Ridgecrest Police Department arrested three suspects in a drug bust following a traffic stop early Tuesday morning, where they recovered more than 200 grams of methempetamine, 10 grams of heroin and other drug paraphernalia.

According to the RPD release, officers stopped Brittany Anthony, 25, and Shawn Grace, 35, in the 200 block of North China Lake Boulevard just before 2 a.m. Brittany was arrested for an active warrant and Grace was arrested for drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.

Officers located evidence in the vehicle sufficient for a search warrant of Brittany’s residence in the 700 block of North Balsam Street, where they located David Anthony, 32, who reportedly brandished a loaded firearm at officers when they arrived. David gave up the gun, and officers took him into custody without further incident.

During the search, officers located approximately 2020 grams of methamphetamine (with a street value of more than $10,000), 10 grams of heroin, scales, baggies and other paraphernalia indicative of sales.

During the search, an officer reportedly sustained serious injuries and is recovering in Loma Linda University Medical Center. RPD officials said the officer was not assaulted and declined to release his name, but Chief Jed McLaughlin referred to the incident during Wednesday evening’s city council meeting.

“It’s been a rough week for us, so please keep one of our guys in your prayers,” he said.

The suspects were booked and charged for possession of controlled substance for sales, assault with a deadly weapon, brandishing a firearm at police, felon in possession of a gun and “several additional charges.”
