RPD catches up with suspectBy BRIAN COSNER, News Review Staff Writer

Inyokern resident Gerald Lee Field, 56, was arrested in Trona on April 20 after being on the run from law enforcement since February.

According to a report from the Ridgecrest Police Department, Field was detained along with several other suspects during a probation search in Inyokern on Feb. 15. While detectives found roughly one ounce of heroin and suspected stolen property, Field sneaked out out the back door while in handcuffs and fled across the desert.

After a few hours of searching, detectives suspected Field had obtained a vehicle and left the area. Officers reportedly filed a case with the Kern County District Attorney’s Office and issued a felony warrant for Field’s arrest.

With the help of San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies, RPD Detectives Kyle Cushman and Travis Gillette contacted Field at a Trona residence last Friday where they were able to arrest him. Field is being charged with possession of narcotics for sale, possession of stolen property and resisting arrest.
