Rehearsals begin for patriotic pageant

“Our Country ’Tis of Thee,” a musical pageant celebrating the history of America presented July 4, is gearing up for rehearsals and signups.

Rehearsals will be held Thursdays in May from 4-5 p.m., and Monday through Thursday in June from 9-10 a.m. Parents may sign their children up during the May 3 and 10 rehearsals. Parents should be prepared to list any potential conflicts and must attend an information meeting during the May 10 rehearsal.

Cost is $10 per child, or $20 per family, to offset expenses.

The annual community production allows children to sing, dance and recite lines in costume during the hour-long program. Participants should be 5-12 years old, with at least one year of school completed. Parent volunteers are also needed.

Rehearsals will be held at the LDS meeting house at the corner of Norma Street and Las Flores Avenue. The final dress rehearsal will be the morning of July 3, with the performance happening the morning of July 4 in the James Monroe Middle School gym.
