Ruth M. Blanton

Ruth M. BlantonRuth Marie Blanton (nee Auld) died Feb. 5, 2018.

Born Dec. 10, 1925, to the late Gordon and Irene Auld, and sister of the late Don Auld, she had lived in Ridgecrest for 72 years.

She graduated from high school in 1941. In 1946, when she moved to the Ridgecrest area, she co-owned a furniture store in Ridgecrest, then worked as a secretary-administrative assistance for 40 years in civil service at China Lake. When she retired from the base, she became a real estate agent for several years.

Over the years she enjoyed playing in several card clubs — canasta, Shanghai and bunco — and enjoyed making fudge at Christmastime with some of her friends. She shared the fudge with her co-workers.

She volunteered as a Pink Lady at Ridgecrest Regional Hospital and as an election volunteer for many years.

She loved to travel, and two of her most memorable trips were to the Great Wall of China and white-water rafting down the Colorado River with her late friend, Mary Bischel. She also enjoyed many cruises.

She is survived by a nephew, niece, great-nephew, stepchildren, step-grandchildren and many lifetime friends.
