Dianne Beresford Murray

Dianne Beresford Murray, daughter of John Beresford and Juane Wurst, was born in Milwaukee, Wisc.,on June 3, 1930.

She grew up in the Midwest and in 1941, with her mother and sister, joined the maternal family in Fresno. She attended St Therese’s Academy where she completed grammar school and then went on to San Joaquin Memorial High School.

Sometime in the 1950s, Dianne and her mother moved to Ridgecrest, where they both worked on the China Lake naval base. It was there that she met John Murray whom she married. They owned KZIQ Radio Station for a number of years and were active members of the civic community. During this period Dianne was a member of the St. Anne’s Church choir and was also cantor on Sundays. She will be remembered for a lovely soprano voice and for many years sang in the annual Handel’s “Messiah” chorus.

She was an outdoor person who loved nature and photography and took easily to the computer when that became the norm. She was a licensed pilot and was an able navigator of a trimaran.

She is survived by her sister, Sister Cecile Beresford, a beloved care-giver friend, JoAnn Yglesias, and two cousins, Georgia Pack and Gaye Craig.

Visitation was on April 10, 2018, from 6-7 p.m. at the Holland and Lyons Mortuary in Ridgecrest. Funeral services were on April 11 at the All Faith Chapel, China Lake.
