James Lee Schulte

James Lee “Jim” Schulte, age 65, of Ridgecrest passed away on March 26, 2018, at Palmdale Regional Medical Center.

He is preceded in death by his sister Janice Schulte, mother Beulah Schulte, father Herbert Schulte and brother Max Schulte.

Jim was born in Walsenburg, Colo., on Oct. 17, 1952, to Herbert and Beulah Schulte. He graduated from Raton High School and went on to earn an associate’s degree in engine mechanics. At the age of 21, he married his true love, Joyce M. Smalley on June 5, 1973.

At the age of 19, Jim started his career in oilfield land drilling in Colorado and followed the oilfield industry through many different states. The field led him to California, where Jim worked on the platform of an offshore oil rig for 35 years. He has taught and guided many hands in the oilfield industry, and has been said to be a dedicated worker and a genuine man to work for.

If Jim wasn’t at work or spending time with his family, he could be found on the golf course. He was always up for a round of golf and thoroughly enjoyed traveling to play in various tournaments and for many charities.

Jim was a caring, loving and protective husband, dad and papa. He is survived by his wife Joyce Schulte; daughter Jackie Bruner of Lemoore, her husband Tony Bruner and two daughters Nicole Schulte and Taylor Bruner; daughter Tiffany Rhamy of Noel, Mo., her husband Tom Rhamy and their five children Shane, Harlee, Phoebe, Quinlyn and Gage Rhamy; and great-granddaughter Greylynn Rhamy, son William Schulte of San Diego, his wife Lauren Schulte, their son Grayson and daughter Bryn; his two sisters Sue Glaze and Cindy Craig of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and countless nieces and nephews.

The magnitude of love Jim had for family and the strength within it is his legacy ... It is one we should all try to emulate.
