Team Davey returns for MS fundraiser

Team Davey returns for MS fundraiserTeam Davey, in partnership with the High Sierra Cyclists, will hold its fifth annual fund-raiser for multiple sclerosis on Saturday, April 28.

Registration begins at 7 a.m. at the Sierra Cycle Studio (1000 N. Norma St.), and the first wave of riders will depart at 7:30 a.m.

Course options include a 12-mile route, a 28-mile timed loop and a 28-mile untimed loop. “There will also be an opportunity to do a ‘virtual ride’ on stationary bikes for those who are unable to ride on the street,” said Dave Whitford, a former IWV resident and organizer of the event.

The ride, incidentally held on Whitford’s birthday, aims to raise funds and awareness for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

“A donation of any amount allows you to ride any of the routes,” said Whitford. Both courses will have a lead- and a sweep-rider. The course includes two rest stops with refreshments and rider assistance on site.

Helmets are required.

Drawing tickets, available for $5 each, can earn each participant a chance to win a Custom Dolomite Fat Bike by Keru, now on display at TJ Frisbee Bicycles.

Tickets are available at the bicycle shop as well as from High Sierra Cyclist members.

“We will also be recruiting riders for Team Davey to join us at this October’s Bike MS Bay to Bay ride Oct 20 and 21,” said Whitford.
