During a recent ceremony at China Lake, Rear Adm. Brian Corey, Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division commander, presented Capt. Tim Johnson, U.S. Navy reservist and deputy chief operational test director at Air Test and Evaluation Squadron 9, with a Meritorious Service Medal in honor of his two-year service as the commanding officer of the NAWCWD Reserve Support Unit.

Under his command from December 2015 to November 2017, Johnson led both the Navy Reserve NAWCWD headquarters unit and a flight test augmentation unit detachment ensuring that all members were well-informed and maintaining oversight on the status of all of their projects.

“Capt. Johnson’s outstanding leadership and meticulous attention to detail were essential to his seamless transition as the commanding officer,” his citation stated.

“Johnson’s leadership, professionalism and loyal devotion of duty reflect a great credit upon him and are in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.”
