After responding to a reported theft at Stater Brothers grocery store, Ridgecrest Police Department officers arrested three suspects on Tuesday, March 27 for shoplifting and drug-related charges.

Officers responded to Stater Brothers at 4:15 p.m. when they learned of suspects stealing cases of energy drinks. After a short investigation, officers located the suspected getaway vehicle at the local Motel 6 in the 500 block of South China Lake Boulevard.

Officers contacted the driver Oscar Reyes, 25, and suspects Cynthia Ramirez, 30, and Matthew Guidangen, 29, (all Ridgecrest residents) at the motel. According to the RPD press release, Reyes attempted to flee, leaping over the handrail of the second-story balcony and making it to the aforementioned vehicle. Officers broke the driver’s-side window of the car and took Reyes into custody.

After conducting a search of the premises, officers reportedly located drug paraphernalia inside the motel room; however, the stolen property was not found. The suspects were booked at the Kern County Central Receiving Facility in Bakersfield.

Suspects were arrested on charges of resting arrest, shoplifting, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving under the influence. At press time, court and bail information was not available.
